Institutional and Programs Accreditation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alasmarya Islamic University (AIU) is one of the Libyan public universities which is affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Libya. Its main headquarters is located in the center of the city of Zliten on the Mediterranean coast, approximately 165 km east of the Libyan capital, Tripoli. \u200b<\/p>\n

In the vicinity of Alasmari Religious Institute in the city of Zliten, the birth of Alasmarya Islamic University (AIU) took place. This was not a coincidence, but rather an appreciation of the cultural and academic role played by this institute in our Libyan society. There is no doubt that the extension of the historical legacy of such educational institution for more than five centuries is an important element in its march. As we find it clear in the establishment of the university by Resolution No. (257\/ 1415 AH – 1996 AD) issued by the Council of Ministers (formerly: “The General People\u2019s Committee”) to establish Alasmarya University for Islamic Sciences. The text of the resolution included: (An academic institution called Alasmarya University for Islamic Sciences shall be established in accordance with the provisions of this resolution. It shall have a legal personality and independent financial liability. It shall be affiliated with the Ministry of Education, (formerly: “the General People\u2019s Committee for Education and Scientific Research\u201d), concerned with the religious education and the revival of Islamic heritage within the framework of higher education. It also supervises religious education in religious institutes and high schools of Sharia sciences.<\/p>\n

The amendment of the name of Alasmarya University for Islamic Sciences came in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. (444\/ 2013 AD) \u201cReporting Some Provisions Concerning Alasmarya University for Islamic Sciences,\u201d which included \u201cModifying the name of Alasmarya University for Islamic Sciences to become (Alasmarya Islamic University (AIU)) and transferring the affiliation of the faculties existing in the city of Zliten and was affiliated with Al-Marqab University to Alasmarya Islamic University (AIU). The resolution also stipulates that it is permissible to create new faculties\u00a0 affiliated with the university when needed.<\/p>\n

By the time, a number of faculties were added, according to the local needs, to reach twenty faculties, including (15) faculties in the city of Zliten, and (5) faculties distributed in the cities of (Msallata, Sabha, Ubari, Ghat, and Zawyet al-Mahjoub in Misrata) in addition to 5 scientific and services centers.<\/p>\n

Currently, the university has more than (15,600) undergraduate students, (716) postgraduate students, (1,329) faculty members and (1,460) employees. The number of graduates has reached (24,252) in various scientific disciplines.<\/p>\n

Alasmarya Islamic University (AIU) obtained the institutional accreditation, by the resolution of the General Manager of the National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions No. (103\/2023) issued on 04\/11\/2023 with a period of three years validity. Institutional and Program Accreditation for Faculties:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies at Al Asmarya Islamic University obtained institutional accreditation by the decision of the General Manager of the National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions No. (46\/ 2023) issued on 02\/14\/2023, valid for a period of three years.
\nThe Faculty of Marine Resources, as well, obtained the institutional accreditation by the decision of the General Manager of the National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions No. (59\/ 2023) issued on 02\/28\/2023 valid for a period of three years.
